Withington: Discover Cotswolds Charm, Sights & Sounds (2023)

Amidst green hillsides, Withington’s quaint charm unfolds, Cotswold beauty reigns

Withington is a small village located in the heart of the Cotswolds, known for its beautiful countryside, charming houses, exquisite gardens, and high quality local produce.

This is a village divided into two parts and connected via Mill Lane with the Mill Inn half way along with a beautiful beer garden overlooking the River Coln.

Your first stop should be the Anglican Church of St Michael which dates back to 674 and was rebuilt in the 12th century then renovated extensively in the 15th century to its current building design. In 2010 it became the first church in history to become zero-carbon in England after solar panels were installed.

The church maintains its historic roots with its blocked Norman doorway, 15th-century oak bell frame, a central buttressed tower with six bells and a clock with chimes.

Afterwards, head over to The Mill Inn which is known for being one of the most picturesque pubs in the Cotswolds.

Here you can tuck into delicious pub food with generous servings or their legendary Sunday roasts. In the 1960s, the then landlord of The Mill Inn, created the first ‘Chicken in a Basket’ meal which became wildly popular throughout Britain and the world in the 60s and 70s.
